Review of Technical Discussions

Both sides reviewed the discussions that had taken place between their technical teams. They engaged in constructive talks about various opportunities for bilateral investments in both the public and private sectors. These opportunities span multiple areas, including refining and petrochemical plants, new and renewable energy, power, telecom, and innovation.

Promoting Two-Way Investments

The discussions included a detailed review of measures aimed at promoting two-way investments in a way that benefits both nations. Dr. P.K. Mishra reiterated India’s commitment to supporting Saudi investments of up to $100 billion, a commitment made during the visit of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.

Future Plans and Regular Consultations

An empowered delegation, led by the Secretary of Petroleum, will visit Saudi Arabia to continue discussions on mutually beneficial investments in the oil and gas sector.

Invitation to Saudi Arabia

The Indian side invited Saudi Arabia to establish an office of its Sovereign Wealth Fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), in India. Additionally, Dr. P.K. Mishra invited the Saudi Energy Minister to India for the next round of meetings of the High-Level Task Force.

Background of the High-Level Task Force

The High-Level Task Force was established to facilitate bilateral investments following the decision made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during the latter’s State Visit to India in September 2023. The task force includes senior officials from both countries, such as the CEO of Niti Aayog and Secretaries for Economic Affairs, Commerce, External Affairs, DPIIT, Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Power from India.
